Role Playing

With Trevor's cath for his ASD repair fast approaching we have started to play Dr. to help prepare him. He is so excited by this. He has been asking to play everyday all day! Children's Hospital sent him a medical kit. He gets to wear a hat on his head, a mask and blue booties just like a real Dr. He gives his shadow buddy many shots each time. He tells his buddy that they do not hurt and he will give him medicine that will go to his heart to make him feel better.

Today at school his preschool teacher asked the kids in class if anyone has been to the Dr. recently or has any scars they want to share. Trevor got excited and told them that he goes to a Heart Dr. so they can look inside his heart and fix it. He also told them how he gets to play Dr. When asked about his scar he said he doesn't have one, he has a line :)

We told him that he gets to stay overnight at the hospital with Mommy and Daddy. He will get to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner there, plus there will be an abundant amount of popsicles. He wants to eat 100! Go for it buddy! You can eat whatever you want after your procedure...

We go to Children's in a couple weeks to take a tour and a Child Life Specialist will help explain everything that will be going on. So far he is handling everything pretty well. Hopefully that trend will continue once he finds out more.
